Roland Greene

Roland Greene has been interested in the problems of poetics throughout his career. His field includes both early modern (sixteenth- and seventeenth-century) and modern (twentieth- and twenty-first-century) poetry and poetics in several languages. His books span formalist, historicist, semantic, and other methods. The Princeton Encyclopedia of Poetry and Poetics, Fourth Edition, of which he served as editor in chief, is the leading reference work in poetics.
With Harris Feinsod, Greene founded the Workshop in Poetics at Stanford in 2007.
His forthcoming book, Apollo Barroco: Inceptions of the Baroque in Europe and the Americas, is a study of the phenomenon of the Baroque as period and mode.
